Washington Hall Renovation
Washington Hall has consistently functioned as a performance space since its construction in 1908 but had fallen into disrepair in the last few decades and was in danger of demolition before Historic Seattle acquired the building in June of 2009.
Our approach to renovating Washington Hall is to retain existing historic fabric and features; repair where needed; and replace in-kind if needed. The first, limited phase of improvements of Washington Hall was completed in 2010. Phase One of the renovation project focused on making the building secure, safe, and comfortable for use again as a place for people to gather for arts, social, and cultural events. Historic Seattle has invested over half a million dollars to stabilize the building shell, upgrade or replace systems, and improve appearances so that the building can serve the need for affordable rental space for a wide range of users.
