Rental Policies & Rates

The mission of Washington Hall is to preserve the historic structure, maintain meaningful ties to the history of the site, and facilitate accessible, contemporary use well into the future.

All types of events, public or private, are welcome at Washington Hall. Individuals, groups, and businesses with roots in the Central District, and/or engaged in arts, heritage, or community-building programming are especially encouraged to submit rental inquiries.

Rates below include reasonable custodial service in advance of event, heating, ventilation and basic overhead lighting. Base rent does not include variable charges, such as labor, equipment, or insurance.

For public events or large private events, you must provide proof of general liability insurance, or purchase a blanket policy from Historic Seattle before you sign your contract. If selling alcohol, you must also provide liquor liability insurance.

Main Hall

238-capacity; approx. 4000 sq ft, plus 1000 sq ft wrap-around balcony; open dance floor, historic proscenium or floor stage configurations. Currently you may use the movable chairs available on site. You may wish to rent/borrow theater risers/seating from a vendor for an additional fee. The Main Hall is not currently wheelchair accessible.

- Public performance or event: $500 full day/night (usually up to 8 hours, including set-up and clean-up)

- Private party/event/wedding/conference : $750 per day/night

- Public or private class up to 90 minutes: $25 or $1 per attendee, whichever is greater.

- Rehearsal: $10 per hour

Lodge Room

139-capacity, 2,088 sq ft; portable/flexible seating

- Public performance or event: $250 full day/night (usually up to 8 hours including set-up and clean-up)

- Private party/event/wedding/conference: $375 per day/night

- Public or private class up to 90 minutes: $25 or $1 per attendee, whichever is greater.

- Meeting (non-ticketed): $10 for up to 25 people, $20 per hour for 26-75, $30 per hour for 76-100, event rate for 101+

- Rehearsal: $10 per hour

Lodge Room rates when bundled with Main Hall rental

Please note that capacity for building is capped at 238, even if both Main Hall and Lodge Room are rented.

- Lodge Room used for staging, NOT open to public: $100

- Lodge Room OPEN to public: $150

Kitchen

- For food prep: $100

- For staging, NO food: negotiable

Labor Rates

Washington Hall staff (required for most events): $18.00/hr

Washington Hall staff for load-out after 12 am: $36.00 per hour after midnight (load-out must be completed by 2 am – no exceptions)

House Technician (will be required for all stage time unless you have a technician approved by our technical manager): $25.00/hr

All other labor and operators we help arrange: $25.00/hr

Time and one half is charged for any staffing overruns incurred beyond contracted event end time and/or after 8 contiguous hours.

Equipment Charges

Basic grid lighting in  main space (for performance/event rentals only): no charge

Public address sound in  main space (from stage – for performance/event rentals only): no charge

Running sound from balcony in main space: $65 for snake rental
